Play as a huge giant hole that swallows everything in its path!
Hole.io is one of those unconventional games that come along every decade or so. The game is based on the fact that players take on a shape of a sinkhole that they can control and move about. The object of the game is to move the sinkhole around and get it to swallow pretty much everything that is on the map.
The sink hole is located in a city where there are other players who also have sinkholes that you compete with. The person who swallows the most objects in the shortest time becomes bigger and therefore can swallow other sinkholes and obviously become even bigger.
Using the sinkhole, players can swallow cars, lamp posts, buildings and other sinkholes. This means you can also be swallowed and eaten. This is no problem since every time you get eaten, you spawn back within 3 seconds or so but this is 3 seconds that you could really use in order to eat objects so you level up and become bigger. In the end the end the player with the biggest sinkhole wins.
The game’s graphics are bright and colorful but there is no audio and the game’s graphics does tend to be a bit sluggish at times. The gameplay is also very quick, just as the saying goes “you snooze, you lose”; and so it is true in this game as well. This means as you start in each level, you do tend to have to move very quickly so that you get big really quickly. Unfortunately it only comes in one level and this is both a good and a bad thing. Play the game for a long time and you will master the location of the easiest shapes to swallow but for the newbie it can get kind of hectic. The animation in the game are simple but effective with the pieces on the board feeling very retro, smooth and modern.
All in all though, there is something oddly satisfying about the game especially as you try to consume other players and eat everything in your path. What makes the game addictive is the fact that there is a time limit and players have to eat up as much as possible within that time if they are to become winners.
What make players come back for more though is the scoreboard on the top right side of the game, that constantly remaining players who to beat and for those who are already on top score of the board; they can always work hard to try and beat their own score.
This is definitely one of those games that you play on your way home from work, while on the bus or taking the train. It is simply to pass the time. It is fun, but at the same time very quick so you do have to be lightning fast with your fingers.
